Safe
and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC), Title
IV-Part A, is a federally funded entitlement grant
that helps schools to plan and implement comprehensive
(Pre-K through grade 12) violence and drug-use prevention
and intervention programs.
The purpose of the SDFSC
Program is to support student achievement and provide
a safe environment through programs that prevent violence
in and around schools; prevent the use of alcohol,
tobacco, and drugs; involve parents; and coordinate
with related federal, state, community efforts and
resources to promote safe and drug-free schools.
Services
Provided by SDFSC Department include:
- Coordinating district
wide and communitywide awareness activities (Red
Ribbon Week)
- Providing training
for school staff members and parents in violence
and drug-use prevention strategies:
